Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Classique
Few watches wear their origin so visibly as the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. René-Alfred Chauvot drew it in 1931 for polo players who needed to flip the crystal away from harm mid-chukka, and the swivelling case remains one of the great Art Deco gestures in watchmaking. Reference 140.021.8 belongs to the Classique generation Jaeger-LeCoultre produced through the 1990s, scaled for the modern wrist with the original pivoting architecture untouched. At 38x23 mm in steel, this is the vintage Reverso at its most versatile, combining dress-watch geometry, sports-watch material and pure 1930s engineering.
The rectangular case pivots on its carriage exactly as Chauvot intended, polished and brushed steel catching the light along the three horizontal gadroons that frame the dial side. The dial is matte white with applied Arabic numerals and matching hands, a railway minute track running cleanly around the edge. The signed crown sits at three. A black leather strap closes on an unsigned polished steel deployant clasp that keeps the case flat against the wrist.
Condition is very good throughout, with crisp case lines and a bright, well-preserved dial. An honest example of one of the few Art Deco designs still in continuous production today.
