Cartier Panthère GM
Launched in the early 1980s, the Cartier Panthère took the architectural language of the Santos and softened it into something more sensual and jewel-like, a watch designed to sit between fine timepiece and bracelet. The reference 1300 in stainless steel, known as the Grand Modèle, became the defining expression of that idea, a 29mm case with stepped lugs, smooth bezel and the screwed accents that anchor the design. After years in the shadow of its sibling references, the vintage steel Panthère has re-emerged as one of the most quietly desirable Cartier silhouettes on the market.
This particular example is the classic configuration collectors have been chasing. The cream dial has warmed to a soft aged tone, with painted black Roman numerals, a printed minute track, a flat date aperture at three and the blue cabochon set into the crown. Quartz movement keeps the case profile slim, and the watch is fitted to an oxblood Hirsch Crocograin leather strap with a gold-plated pin buckle, an aftermarket pairing that flatters the warmth of the dial.
The dial carries a gentle patina and a single hairline scratch, the sort of mark that confirms a watch genuinely worn rather than stored away. The case back shows light surface marks consistent with decades on the wrist, while the brushed and polished surfaces of the case remain well defined. The case shows minor signs of wear consistent with regular use. Professional polishing can be arranged free of charge upon request. Accompanied by its original Cartier box.
