Cartier Santos Carrée "Burgundy"

The burgundy lacquer dial on this vintage Cartier Santos Carrée was made for the 75th anniversary of the Santos, and the red cabochon set in the crown picks up exactly the same shade. There are no numerals at all, just the hands and a date aperture ringed in thin gold. The Carrée arrived in 1978 as the first Santos in steel, Cartier's answer to the integrated-bracelet era, and reference 2960 is the all-steel version of it.

This particular example measures 29 mm across and stays under 9 mm thick, compact by current habit but true to the original drawing, and at that size it is the men's reference. Inside is a self-winding Cartier movement based on the ETA 2671. It was serviced by Cartier in September 2026 and carries a two-year warranty, and it is offered as a full set with its original box and papers.

The lacquer of the dial is in immaculate condition, deep and unbroken, with the gold date ring and matching hands reading cleanly against it. The case back carries fine hairlines and there are minor scratches along the case flanks, while the bracelet links show light surface marks and scuffs along the edges. None of it interrupts the geometry of the squared case and the exposed screws that give the Santos its signature, and the proportions remain crisp. The case shows minor signs of wear consistent with regular use. Professional polishing can be arranged free of charge upon request.

The watch comes on its steel Cartier bracelet with a brushed folding clasp, integrated into the case in the manner that defined the model from the outset.
