Cartier Santos Galbée
Exposed screws run from the bezel of this vintage Cartier Santos Galbée, reference 987901, and continue along its bracelet, so the hardware that defines the Santos line carries all the way around the wrist. The 987901 combines that design with a stainless steel case, a steel bracelet and a Cartier calibre 87 quartz movement, which makes it a Santos built for daily wear. Dated examples of the reference from around 1990 and 1991 place it in the early part of that decade.
This particular example belongs to the same 1990s production and measures 29 by 41 mm, the men's size of the reference. Its cream dial carries Roman numerals and matching hands beneath a sapphire crystal, with a date window at six o'clock. The crown is set with a blue stone, the one touch of colour against the steel. The watch is offered as a full set, complete with box and papers.
The dial is presented clean and well-preserved. The case shows minor signs of wear consistent with regular use.
The steel bracelet closes on a brushed steel Cartier folding clasp with a cover, which keeps the line of the bracelet unbroken on the underside of the wrist.
