Cartier Santos Carree PM "Burgundy"
A red dial sets the tone of this Cartier Santos Carree PM (Petit Modele) in stainless steel, reference 0901. The squared case and exposed bezel screws trace back to the aviation watch Louis Cartier designed for Alberto Santos-Dumont, and in the compact PM size that architecture stays small and sharp. Red is a colour Cartier reserved for only a handful of executions, and it gives the 24mm case a depth most steel Santos models never reach.
The dial is left clean of indices, its red surface doing all the work against the steel surround and the bezel. A cabochon crown anchors the right flank, and the matching hands sweep across an uninterrupted field. The watch sits on a stainless steel bracelet that closes with a folding clasp in a brushed finish, marked with the Cartier crown.
The lacquer shows a pronounced spider-craze across the entire dial surface, the fine web of cracking that develops in red Cartier dials of this era, alongside a scratch on the glass. The case back is engraved. An original Cartier replacement glass has been ordered and will be fitted prior to shipping. It comes complete with its original Cartier box.
