Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse

Sketched by Jörg Hysek in 1968 around the golden ratio, the Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse arrived as one of the maison's most radical post-war forms, neither round nor rectangular but a precisely proportioned oval that has remained in the catalogue ever since. Reference 3546 belongs to the early mechanical chapter of the line, powered by the celebrated calibre 23-300, an ultra-thin hand-wound movement that allows the case to keep its slim, sculptural silhouette. Executed in 18k yellow gold with a champagne dial, it is the purest expression of Hysek's original idea.

This 32 mm example is cased in 18k yellow gold with a warm champagne dial, painted Roman numerals and matching hands. The signed crown meets the smooth bezel flush, preserving the unbroken elliptical line that defines the reference. It is fitted to an oxblood leather strap, a shade that brings out the warm tone of the gold and complements the dial beautifully.

The case shows honest signs of wear, light scratches across the case middle and along the bezel edge, with similar surface marks on the case back, all consistent with age.
