Rolex Day-date Russian
The Day-Date reference 18238 represents the sapphire-crystal evolution of Rolex's flagship dress watch, produced from the late 1980s through the 1990s with the updated caliber 3155 and its double quickset function. What elevates this particular example is the combination of two uncommon features: the Cyrillic day wheel, originally offered for the Russian-speaking market, and the pyramid dial, one of the more architectural textured dial variants Rolex produced during this period.
This 1995 example is cased in 18k yellow gold with the signature fluted bezel and measures a classic 36mm. The glossy black pyramid dial, with its vertical faceted pattern catching the light, carries applied gold Roman numerals and pairs strikingly with the Cyrillic day display at twelve. The watch is presented with its original Rolex box; papers are not included.
The case remains in excellent original condition, retaining strong proportions with sharp lugs and crisp fluting on the bezel. The case shows minor signs of wear consistent with regular use. Professional polishing can be arranged free of charge upon request. The dial is clean throughout, with no visible flaws to the pyramid pattern, printing, or applied numerals, and the matching gold handset is original to the watch. The Cyrillic day wheel is crisp and correctly aligned.
The watch is currently fitted on a black leather strap, pairing elegantly with the yellow gold case for a dressier wearing experience.
