Rolex Lady-Datejust
Deep blue against the warm gold of a smooth bezel and Jubilee centre links is one of the more striking combinations the Rolex Lady-Datejust reference 6916 offered. The 26mm case in steel and 18k yellow gold follows the design language Rolex set for the smaller Datejust line in the late 1970s, and the smooth bezel makes this the dressier sister in the family, replacing the fluted version and letting the case profile and the dial speak for themselves.
The dark blue dial is clean and unadorned, with applied indices and matching hands, the date at three read through the cyclops. The crown is signed, and the watch is fitted to its Jubilee bracelet in steel and 18k yellow gold, closed by a folding Rolex deployant clasp. The Jubilee, with its five-link construction and gold centre row, has always been the natural partner to this case, the small links catching the light as the bracelet moves around the wrist. Power comes from the automatic calibre 2035.
The bracelet shows some stretch from years of wear, the usual character of a vintage Jubilee that was worn rather than stored away. The case shows minor signs of wear consistent with regular use. The watch comes with its original Rolex box.
