Rolex Monoblocco
Rolex Oyster Chronograph ref. 4500 “Monoblocco”, circa 1947, in two-tone steel and yellow gold. Historical note: the 4500 belongs to Rolex’s early Oyster Chronograph family of the 1940s, preceding the pre-Daytona 6234/6238 era; Monoblocco denotes the mid-case with integrated bezel milled from a single block.
Original multi-scale dial (tachymeter/telemeter) — factory print, not redone — with matching hands. Honest “barn-find” appearance with consistent patina to case, pushers and acrylic crystal. Powered by the column-wheel Valjoux 23. Included: period Rolex box and two-tone Gay Frères bracelet. A compelling, untouched example for collectors who value originality over refinishing.
